🚨 Apple just launched the iPhone Duo!

iPhone Duo: Apple’s First Foldable iPhone — Complete Details, Features, Price and Specifications

Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the launch of the iPhone Duo, its first-ever foldable iPhone. Announced on September 9, 2026, the iPhone Duo introduces a completely new form factor to Apple's iPhone lineup while combining a large foldable display, powerful A20 Pro performance, advanced cameras, AI features and a premium titanium design.

The iPhone Duo is designed to work like a traditional smartphone when closed and transform into a much larger device when opened. Apple says the Duo delivers its largest iPhone display ever, making it particularly interesting for gaming, movies, multitasking, photography and productivity.

iPhone Duo Design

The iPhone Duo uses a passport-style foldable design with a titanium frame and a precision-engineered hinge. When folded, it remains compact enough to fit into a pocket, while opening the device reveals a significantly larger display.

Apple has used Ceramic Shield protection on the front and back, along with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. The phone is available in two finishes: Night Sky and Star White.

When open, the device measures only around 5.2mm thick, making it Apple's thinnest iPhone in its unfolded form. It weighs approximately 254 grams.

Two Displays

One of the biggest highlights of the iPhone Duo is its dual-display setup.

The main internal display is a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR OLED folding display with a resolution of 1878 × 2670 pixels. It supports ProMotion with adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz and has a special nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare.

The external display measures 5.4 inches and allows users to use the phone normally without opening it.

Both displays support features including Dynamic Island, Always-On display, HDR, True Tone, P3 wide color and up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rates. The displays can also work with Apple Pencil through USB-C.

Apple says the inner display is about 50% larger than the display on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, giving users substantially more screen space for entertainment and productivity.

A20 Pro Chip

Powering the iPhone Duo is Apple's new A20 Pro chip.

The processor features a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple has designed the chip to handle demanding AI workloads, gaming and multitasking.

According to Apple, the A20 Pro CPU can be up to 20% faster than the previous-generation A19 Pro, while the GPU can deliver up to 40% better performance and power efficiency.

The phone also uses a custom vapor-chamber thermal management system. This helps the device maintain performance during demanding activities such as high-frame-rate gaming, video editing and intensive AI processing.

Camera System

The iPhone Duo comes with a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system.

The main camera is a 48MP Fusion camera with optical image stabilization and an optical-quality 2x telephoto option. The second camera is a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera with a 120-degree field of view.

The camera system supports features such as Night mode, Smart HDR 5, Photographic Styles, macro photography, Portrait mode and up to 10x digital zoom.

For video recording, the iPhone Duo supports 4K Dolby Vision recording at up to 60fps, along with Cinematic mode, slow motion, QuickTake and stabilized video recording.

Another interesting feature is Duo Preview, which provides new ways to use the two sides of the device while taking photos and videos.

Under-Display FaceTime Camera

Apple has also placed the front FaceTime camera under the display.

This allows the internal screen to provide a cleaner, more uninterrupted viewing area without requiring a conventional camera cutout in the middle of the large foldable display.

The camera supports 1080p video recording and Center Stage features for video calls.

Battery Life

The iPhone Duo uses a dual-battery architecture, with one battery positioned on each side of the foldable device.

Apple rates the phone for up to 24 hours of typical use. Video playback can reach up to 31 hours when using the inner display and up to 44 hours when using the outer display.

The phone also supports fast charging. Apple says it can reach around 50% charge in approximately 20 minutes using a 60W-capable adapter or higher. MagSafe charging can reach 50% in around 30 minutes with a compatible charger.

AI and Siri

The iPhone Duo comes with the next generation of Apple Intelligence and an upgraded Siri AI.

Apple has focused heavily on privacy, using on-device processing where possible and Private Cloud Compute for supported cloud-based AI tasks.

The larger foldable screen also provides more space for AI-powered applications, editing tools and multitasking.

Storage Options

The iPhone Duo is offered with several storage configurations:

  • 256GB

  • 512GB

  • 1TB

  • 2TB

The 2TB option makes the Duo particularly interesting for users who store large amounts of 4K video, photos, games and other media.

Connectivity

The iPhone Duo uses an eSIM-only design worldwide, eliminating the physical SIM tray.

It supports modern wireless technologies including Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Apple also introduced its new C2 modem system for cellular connectivity and reliability.

iPhone Duo Price

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 in the United States for the 256GB model.

Higher storage configurations increase the price, with the 2TB version reaching the premium end of Apple's smartphone lineup.

Apple says pre-orders begin on October 16, 2026, while the iPhone Duo becomes available on October 23, 2026.

Is iPhone Duo Worth Buying?

The iPhone Duo is aimed at users who want the portability of an iPhone with the larger screen experience of a tablet.

It could be especially useful for:

  • Gaming

  • Watching movies and YouTube

  • Multitasking

  • Video editing

  • Photography

  • AI applications

  • Business and productivity

  • Reading and browsing

However, the biggest drawback is its high starting price of $1,999. For users who do not need a foldable display, a conventional iPhone may provide better value.

Final Verdict

The iPhone Duo represents one of Apple's biggest hardware changes in years. Instead of simply making another conventional iPhone, Apple has introduced a completely new foldable design with a large 7.6-inch display, A20 Pro chip, dual 48MP cameras, dual-battery architecture and advanced AI capabilities.

Its combination of portability and a large screen makes it one of the most ambitious iPhones Apple has ever produced.

Whether the iPhone Duo becomes a mainstream success will depend on its durability, real-world battery performance, software experience and whether consumers are willing to pay the $1,999 starting price.

For Apple fans who have been waiting for a foldable iPhone, however, the wait is finally over.
